You just installed a freshly refilled toner cartridge, but your computer screen or printer LCD display persists with: "Toner Low" or refuses to print altogether.
The Smart Chip Explanation
Modern toner cartridges feature a tiny smart chip that acts as a digital page counter. Once it logs the cartridge's rated page capacity, it permanently registers it as depleted.
How to Clear It:
- HP/Canon (Monochrome 12A/88A): Dismiss the driver warning on your PC; the printer will print normally.
- Brother Laser Printers: Brother uses physical reset gears or front-panel button combinations (e.g., press the Go button 5 times with the cover open) to reset the internal counter to 100%.
