Seeing dark streaks running down your printed pages is frustrating. Identifying the visual pattern lets you pinpoint the failed component without guessing.
Pattern 1: Solid Thin Black Line
Inspect the OPC drum. A staple, paperclip, or hard particle likely passed through and scratched the drum's sensitive surface coating.
Pattern 2: Smudged, Powdery Vertical Band
A soft, smudged vertical streak indicates a nicked or worn wiper blade failing to scrape residual toner off the drum into the waste compartment.
Pattern 3: Repeating Marks at Regular Intervals
A smudge repeating every ~75mm indicates drum circumference wear, while a longer interval (~95mm+) points to the internal fuser assembly teflon sleeve.
